Thelocephala pajonalensis (syn. Eriosyce pajonalensis) is a captivating, slow-growing cactus species endemic to Chile. This geophytic plant is characterized by its solitary, depressed-globose stem, often subterranean, with a gray-green to brownish epidermis. The prominent, often spirally arranged tubercles bear woolly areoles, each adorned with short, bristly spines. The stunning, apical flowers emerge from a woolly cephalium, showcasing vibrant shades of yellow or reddish hues. This species is highly prized by collectors for its unique morphology and striking floral display.
