This clump-forming plant is known for its distinctive fleshy, green stems, which are four-angled and covered with small, soft hairs. The most eye-catching feature of Stapelia baylissii is its unique star-shaped flowers, typically yellowish-brown or pale cream with fine markings and soft, fuzzy textures. The flowers emit a carrion-like odor, attracting flies for pollination. This species is highly valued by collectors for its exotic appearance and unusual blooms.
