Product Description
Eriosyce aurata is a spectacular and highly sought-after cactus native to the coastal ranges of northern and central Chile. It grows slowly into a robust globular to short-columnar shape, often reaching impressive sizes over time. Its body is a striking olive-green to bronze-gray, with strongly defined ribs lined by deeply notched areoles. From each areole emerge dense clusters of golden-yellow to coppery spines, giving the plant its glowing, sunlit appearance.
The spines of Eriosyce aurata are thick, curved, and often interwoven, forming a protective cage that adds to its visual drama. Mature specimens can develop a woody base, further enhancing their rugged, ancient look. In late spring or early summer, it produces large, funnel-shaped yellow flowers near the apex, providing a brilliant contrast to the earthy tones of the plant. This combination of structure and color makes it a true centerpiece.
