Eriosyce aurata is a small, globular cactus native to northern Chile. It typically grows to about 12 cm in diameter, featuring a dark green to bluish-green body covered in prominent, golden-yellow spines. The cactus has deep ribs with areoles that produce these bright spines, giving it a striking appearance. During the blooming season, it produces large, funnel-shaped flowers ranging from yellow to orange-red, which emerge from the apex of the plant.
