Citrus maxima, commonly known as pomelo or pummelo, is the largest of the citrus fruits. Native to Southeast Asia, it grows on a large, evergreen tree with a dense, rounded crown and thick, leathery, glossy green leaves. The tree produces fragrant white flowers, which develop into large, round to pear-shaped fruits. The fruit has a thick, spongy rind and can weigh up to 2 kg or more. The flesh inside varies in color from pale yellow to pink and is segmented, juicy, and can be sweet to mildly acidic. The pomelo is often enjoyed fresh, in salads, or used in desserts.
