This variety is notable for its smooth, spineless surface, which is devoid of the characteristic white dots seen in other Astrophytum species. The cactus has a geometric, star-shaped appearance with five distinct ribs. Its green to blue-green skin is often lightly marked with small, fuzzy areoles. In late spring to early summer, it produces large, yellow flowers with orange centers, adding a vibrant touch to its minimalistic form.
