It features a flattened, globular shape with distinct ribs and a dense covering of white to yellowish spots, giving it a star-like appearance. The surface is usually green, accentuated by these numerous dots, which are more prominent in the multipunctatum variety. This cactus blooms with large, bright yellow flowers with orange centers, typically in spring and summer. It is highly valued for its unique, striking pattern and its relatively easy care.
