Plant Description
Agave pedunculifera is a rare and visually commanding agave species, prized for its tall bloom spike and uniquely shaped leaves. This architectural succulent grows as a solitary rosette with wide, pale green leaves that taper into sharp points and often display a gentle curvature. The leaves are edged with small, evenly spaced teeth and can develop a subtle powdery bloom, giving the plant a frosted or silvery sheen under sunlight.
What truly sets Agave pedunculifera apart is its massive inflorescence, rising several meters above the rosette. The bloom stalk, or peduncle, is especially thick and strong—hence the name—and bears numerous yellow to greenish flowers in densely packed clusters. This species is both impressive and elegant, with a form that works beautifully as a focal point in xeric gardens, desert-themed landscapes, or large containers.
