L'Agave marmorata è una sorprendente succulenta con grandi foglie carnose disposte a rosetta. Le sue foglie grigio-blu hanno un aspetto marmorizzato con marcature irregolari, conferendole un aspetto testurizzato. Le foglie sono bordate di piccole spine e terminano in spine appuntite, rendendola una pianta formidabile per il deserto. Cresce lentamente e può raggiungere fino a 1,8 metri di larghezza. Col tempo produce uno stelo fiorale alto con fiori verde-giallastri, dopodiché la pianta muore lasciando dietro di sé i polloni.
