Sorbus aucuparia, commonly known as rowan, European mountain ash, or vogelbeere, is a deciduous tree native to most of Europe and parts of Asia, valued for its ornamental foliage, vivid berries, and wildlife appeal. Sorbus aucuparia is highly tolerant of cold, poor soils, and urban pollution, making it ideal for gardens, streetscapes, and rewilding projects. Its mythological associations—often believed to ward off evil—add cultural depth to its botanical charm.
