Product Description

Submatucana paucicostata is a rare and compact cactus species originating from the high-altitude regions of Peru. This small, globular cactus is characterized by its few prominent ribs (hence the name “paucicostata,” meaning “few ribs”) and short, woolly areoles that may occasionally produce tiny spines. The body is a rich dark green, and in spring and summer, it blooms with large, funnel-shaped orange-red flowers that add a striking contrast to its small stature. Growing this cactus from seeds can be an exciting challenge, as the seedlings develop into a sculptural, ribbed form over time.
