Plant Description

Salix alba x fragilis, known as crack willow or hybrid white willow, is a large, fast-growing deciduous tree resulting from the natural hybridization of Salix alba and Salix fragilis. This tree features slender, lance-shaped leaves with a bright green color on top and a slightly silvery underside. The branches are notably brittle, often breaking off with a "crack" sound, especially during windy conditions, giving it the name crack willow. The tree can reach impressive heights, often up to 20–25 meters, and is highly valued for stabilizing riverbanks, providing shade, and adding structure to large landscapes.
