Plant Description

Robinia pseudoacacia, commonly known as the Black Locust or False Acacia, is a deciduous tree native to North America. It typically grows to a height of 12-30 meters with a straight trunk and an open, irregular crown. The compound leaves are pinnate, with 7-19 oval leaflets that turn a bright yellow in autumn. The tree is famous for its fragrant, pendulous white flower clusters that bloom in late spring, attracting bees and other pollinators. The bark is deeply furrowed and dark brown, providing an additional textural interest. Its hardwood is highly valued for its durability.
