Plant Description
Pyrus amygdaliformis, also known as the almond-leaved pear, is a deciduous wild pear with distinctive lanceolate, almond-shaped leaves and a rugged, spiny branching habit. In spring, it produces clusters of five-petaled white flowers, giving way to small, rounded or pyriform fruits with a hard texture and astringent taste. Its bark is deeply fissured, and the plant often forms a dense, shrubby tree or large bush, prized for its drought tolerance and use in natural hedging and reforestation.
