Plant Description

Pinus pinaster, commonly known as the Maritime Pine, is a fast-growing, large evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region. Its straight, tall trunk and spreading branches form a rounded or irregular canopy, reaching up to 20-35 meters (65-115 feet) in height. The needles are long, bright green, and grow in pairs, giving the tree a dense, bushy appearance. Its bark is thick and deeply fissured, with a reddish-brown color that adds visual interest. Pinus pinaster produces large, woody cones that release seeds valuable for local wildlife. Its high resin content makes it especially fire-adaptive.
