Plant Description

Pilgerodendron uviferum, commonly known as the Patagonian Cypress, is a striking conifer with a dense, pyramidal shape. Its scaled, evergreen leaves tightly hug its slender, reddish-brown branches, creating a lush, textured appearance. This slow-growing tree can reach up to 20 meters in height and boasts a straight, towering trunk with deeply furrowed, fibrous bark. Native to southern Chile and Argentina, Pilgerodendron uviferum thrives in cold, wet environments, often found in temperate rainforests and peat bogs, making it the southernmost conifer species in the world. Its wood is highly durable and aromatic.
