Phillyrea angustifolia
Phillyrea angustifolia
Plant Description
Phillyrea angustifolia, commonly known as the Narrow-leaved Mock Privet or False Olive, is an evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean region. It typically grows to a height of 2-5 meters, with a dense, bushy habit. The narrow, lanceolate leaves are dark green, leathery, and glossy, providing a lush, year-round foliage. In spring, it produces small, fragrant white to yellowish flowers that are clustered in the leaf axils. These are followed by small, dark purple to black berries. This hardy shrub is prized for its ornamental foliage and its ability to thrive in dry, rocky soils, making it an excellent choice for hedges, borders, and xeriscaping.
