Plant Description
Parrotia persica cv. “Vanessa,” commonly known as Persian Ironwood “Vanessa,” is a deciduous tree or large shrub that can reach heights of up to 10 meters. It features an upright, columnar growth habit. The leaves are oval, starting as a bronzy-purple in spring, turning dark green in summer, and finally transitioning to vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red in the fall. In late winter to early spring, the tree produces small, red, petal-less flowers that add subtle interest. The bark is smooth, exfoliating in patches to reveal a mosaic of colors, adding winter appeal.
