Neoporteria occulta, also known as Eriosyce occulta, is a small, globular cactus native to the coastal regions south of Paposo, Chile. This cactus features dark green to almost black stems with prominent ribs and tubercles. The spines are short, curved, and range in color from yellowish to black. It produces small, funnel-shaped flowers that are typically pink to reddish-pink, blooming at the apex. Neoporteria occulta thrives in well-draining, sandy to rocky soils and requires full sun. It is highly drought-tolerant but appreciates occasional watering during the growing season.
