Plant Description

Magnolia grandiflora, commonly known as the southern magnolia, is a majestic evergreen tree that can reach heights of 60-80 feet. This plant is renowned for its large, glossy dark green leaves with a leathery texture and rusty-brown undersides. The fragrant, creamy white flowers are enormous, up to 12 inches in diameter, and bloom in late spring to summer. These blooms are followed by cone-like fruits containing bright red seeds. Magnolia grandiflora is a symbol of elegance and beauty, often used in landscaping for its striking appearance and aromatic flowers.
