Liriodendron tulipifera
Liriodendron tulipifera
Plant Description
Liriodendron tulipifera, commonly known as the Tulip Tree or Yellow Poplar, is a large, deciduous tree native to eastern North America. It can grow up to 30-50 meters tall, with a straight trunk and a broad, pyramidal crown. The distinctive leaves are lobed and resemble a tulip or a violin in shape, turning bright yellow in autumn. In late spring to early summer, it produces large, showy yellow-green flowers with an orange band at the base, resembling tulips. The tree’s bark is gray and furrowed, adding texture to its stately presence. Its rapid growth and striking appearance make it a popular ornamental and shade tree.
