Plant Description
Larix laricina, commonly known as the tamarack, is a deciduous conifer native to North America. This unique tree is characterized by its short, bluish-green needles that grow in clusters along the branches and turn a brilliant gold color in autumn before falling off. The bark of mature trees is reddish-brown and scaly. Larix laricina thrives in cold, boggy areas and is tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions.
