Plant Description

Larix kaempferi, commonly known as the Japanese Larch, is a deciduous conifer native to Japan, admired for its striking seasonal changes and graceful form. Unlike most conifers, Larix kaempferi sheds its soft, needle-like foliage in winter, offering a unique display of golden-yellow needles in autumn before they drop. At maturity, the tree develops an elegant pyramidal shape with horizontal branches that slightly droop at the tips. The bright green needles of this larch emerge in spring, forming dense tufts along the branches. It also produces small, attractive cones that start green and mature to brown, adding further ornamental interest. Larix kaempferi is well-suited to larger gardens, parks, and as a specimen tree.
