Plant Description

The Fraxinus angustifolia subsp. oxycarpa, also known as Narrow-leaved Ash, is a deciduous tree that can grow up to 25 meters tall. Its slender branches bear compound leaves with lance-shaped leaflets, giving the tree a fine, airy appearance. The bark is smooth and gray in youth, becoming fissured as the tree ages. In autumn, its foliage turns a brilliant yellow. The flowers, which lack petals, bloom in clusters before the leaves emerge, leading to winged samara fruits that are narrow and elongated. This subspecies thrives in moist environments, often near watercourses.
