Plant Description
Fockea edulis, commonly known as Hottentot Bread, is a succulent plant native to Southern Africa. This fascinating species develops a large, partially buried caudex, a swollen stem base that stores water, giving it a distinctive, almost bonsai-like appearance. The caudex can grow up to 20 inches in diameter and is covered in a thick, corky bark. Fockea edulis produces slender, twining stems with glossy green leaves, adding to its ornamental appeal.
