Product Description

Ferocactus cylindraceus var. lecontei, also known as California barrel cactus, showcases a striking cylindrical or barrel-shaped form, reaching heights of up to 2 meters. Its thick, ridged green body is adorned with clusters of curved, bright red to yellow spines that fan out dramatically, giving the cactus a fierce, protective look. Each areole holds multiple spines, often creating a striking visual effect against its glossy ribs. In spring, it bears vivid yellow flowers on its apex, adding a dash of color before turning to small, fleshy fruits.
