Product Description

Copiapoa sarcoana is a unique cactus species native to the coastal deserts of northern Chile. It forms clusters of globular to cylindrical stems, each reaching up to 20 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter. The stems are a striking blue-green color, often covered with a fine white coating that enhances their visual appeal. Prominent ribs are adorned with clusters of short, dark spines, which provide a sharp contrast to the blue-green skin. In summer, Copiapoa sarcoana produces small, yellow, funnel-shaped flowers at the apex of the stems, adding a splash of color to its otherwise muted tones.

Cultivation

Soil Type: Use a gritty, well-draining cactus mix with added sand or pumice.

Temperature: Thrives in warm climates; protect from frost and freezing temperatures.

Fertilization: Apply a balanced, low-nitrogen cactus fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer).

Pruning: Generally not needed; remove any dead or damaged stems.

Pests: Be vigilant for pests such as mealybugs and spider mites; treat promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
