Ceiba bombax 40-70cm

The Ceiba bombax, commonly known as the Silk Cotton Tree, is a majestic tree species known for its thick, spiny trunk and large, palmate leaves. At 40-70 cm, this young tree is still in its early stages but will eventually grow into a towering tree. Its smooth, green stem at this stage may already show spiny protrusions that will later develop into a thicker, massive trunk with a characteristic swollen base. The Silk Cotton Tree produces large, showy pink or red flowers and, later, cottony seed pods that disperse fluffy fibers. It is native to tropical regions and is revered for both its ornamental beauty and cultural significance.
