Plant Description

Calibanus hookeri is a striking succulent known for its massive caudex resembling an elephant's foot, covered in rough, corky bark. From this swollen base, dense tufts of narrow, grass-like leaves emerge, arching gracefully. These leaves are blue-green and can reach up to 60 cm in length, creating a unique contrast against the textured trunk. It produces small, cream-colored flowers on tall spikes, although flowering is rare in cultivation. Its sculptural form and resilience make it an extraordinary choice for arid landscapes or container gardening.
