Plant Description

The Araucaria bidwillii, also known as the bunya pine, is a large evergreen coniferous tree in the family Araucariaceae. Native to Queensland, Australia, this ancient tree species is characterized by its distinctive, symmetrical dome-shaped crown and horizontally spreading branches. The bunya pine produces large, edible seeds, historically significant as a food source for Indigenous Australians. Its bark is rough and scaly, and the tree is easily recognizable by its sharp, pointed leaves.
