Annona cherimola
Plant Description
Annona cherimola, commonly known as the Cherimoya or Custard Apple, is a small, deciduous tree native to the Andean valleys of Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia. It typically grows to a height of 5-8 meters with a spreading canopy. The tree features large, velvety, oval leaves that are dark green and provide a lush appearance. In spring, it produces small, fragrant greenish-yellow flowers. The fruit, called a cherimoya, is heart-shaped, green, and covered with an overlapping scale-like pattern. The flesh is creamy-white, sweet, and custard-like, with a flavor reminiscent of banana, pineapple, and strawberry.
