Plant Description

The Agave americana, commonly called the Century Plant, is a dramatic perennial succulent known for its large, architectural rosettes of blue-green, sword-shaped leaves. Each leaf, up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) long, features sharp edges and a pointed terminal spine. This iconic plant is monocarpic, producing a towering flowering stalk—up to 9 meters (30 feet) tall—after decades of growth, adorned with yellow-green flowers. Adapted to arid environments, Agave americana adds bold structure to landscapes with its striking foliage and impressive size.
