Acer saccharinum
Acer saccharinum
Plant Description
The Acer saccharinum, commonly known as the Silver Maple, is a fast-growing deciduous tree native to North America, prized for its graceful, spreading canopy and silvery undersides of its deeply lobed, green leaves. In spring, clusters of small, red to yellow flowers appear, followed by paired samaras (winged seeds). Its smooth gray bark matures to develop furrows with age. The Silver Maple thrives in wet soils, often found near rivers and wetlands, making it an excellent shade or ornamental tree with a dynamic seasonal display.
