Plant Description

The Acer negundo, commonly known as the Box Elder or Ashleaf Maple, is a fast-growing deciduous tree native to North America. Unlike most maples, its compound leaves resemble those of an ash tree, with 3 to 7 leaflets. The Box Elder produces greenish-yellow flowers in early spring, followed by paired samaras (winged seeds). It thrives in a variety of conditions, making it a popular choice for erosion control and urban landscapes. While adaptable and hardy, its irregular form and brittle wood give it a rugged, natural appeal.
