Plant Description

Acanthus mollis, commonly known as Bear’s Breeches, is a striking perennial plant celebrated for its large, glossy, deeply lobed leaves and tall flower spikes. At the 10-15 cm size, this young plant is beginning to develop its distinctive foliage, which is dark green and forms a lush, dense rosette. In maturity, it produces impressive, upright spikes of white to pale pink flowers with purple bracts, usually blooming in late spring to early summer. Acanthus mollis is a favorite in gardens for its architectural presence and ability to thrive in both sun and shade.
