The Tilia platyphyllos, commonly known as the Large-leaved Linden or Large-leaved Lime, is a majestic deciduous tree that can reach up to 40 meters in height. It is known for its large, heart-shaped leaves with serrated edges, which provide dense, cooling shade. The tree produces clusters of fragrant, pale-yellow flowers in early summer, which attract bees and other pollinators. These flowers eventually give way to small, round nut-like seeds attached to a distinctive leafy bract. Tilia platyphyllos is highly valued for its use in urban landscapes and parks, due to its shade and tolerance to pollution, as well as its traditional use in herbal medicine for its calming properties.
