Salix alba
Salix alba
Plant Description
Salix alba, commonly known as white willow, is a tall, fast-growing deciduous tree known for its slender, silvery-green leaves and whitish bark. The lance-shaped leaves have a silvery sheen on the underside, giving the tree its “white” appearance, especially when they shimmer in the wind. In spring, small, yellowish catkins appear, adding seasonal interest and attracting pollinators. White willow can reach up to 20–25 meters and is often planted near rivers or lakes due to its moisture-loving nature and ability to prevent erosion. This species is valued in traditional medicine and for its wood.
