Plant Description

Quercus imbricaria, commonly known as the Shingle oak, is a deciduous tree with a distinctive broad, oval shape and glossy, unlobed leaves. Unlike other oaks, its leaves are lance-shaped and smooth-edged, resembling those of some evergreen trees, and they turn yellow to brown in autumn, often persisting into winter. This medium to large tree can grow up to 20 meters in height and produces small, round acorns. Quercus imbricaria is valued for its ornamental appearance and adaptability to different soil types and environments, making it popular for both residential and large-scale plantings.
