Pyrrhocactus strausianus, also known as Eriosyce strausiana, is a cactus species native to the Los Colorados region of Chile. This cactus typically has a globular to short cylindrical shape with a dark green to brownish-green body. It features prominent ribs adorned with tubercles, and dense, robust spines that can range in color from white to dark brown. The flowers are funnel-shaped, usually bright pink to red, and bloom at the plant’s apex. Adapted to arid, rocky environments, Pyrrhocactus strausianus thrives in well-draining soils and requires minimal watering.
