The Balfour’s spruce or Picea likiangensis var. balfouriana is a stately, evergreen conifer native to the mountainous regions of China. This spruce features a tall, pyramidal form with dense branches covered in sharp, dark-green needles. The cones are cylindrical, maturing from purplish-green to brown as they ripen. Reaching heights of 20–40 meters (65–130 feet), this tree is valued for its adaptability to high altitudes and harsh climates.
