The spines are short, straight, and range from yellowish to brownish in color. The plant produces small, funnel-shaped flowers that are typically pink to reddish-pink, emerging from the apex. Neowerdermannia chilensis var. putrensis thrives in well-draining, sandy to rocky soils and requires full sun. It is highly drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional watering during the growing season.
