Plant Description

The Fraxinus americana cv 'Autumn Purple', or Autumn Purple Ash, is a majestic deciduous tree known for its brilliant fall color. This cultivar of the white ash reaches heights of 50 to 70 feet with a rounded crown and spreads 40 to 50 feet wide. Its pinnately compound leaves are composed of 5 to 9 leaflets, starting as rich green in spring and summer, turning a vibrant, deep purple-red in autumn. The bark is smooth and gray when young, becoming ridged and furrowed with age, adding texture and character to the landscape.
