Plant Description
Feijoa sellowiana (syn. Acca sellowiana), commonly known as Pineapple Guava or Guavasteen, is a versatile and ornamental evergreen shrub. Typically growing to a height of 1-7 meters, it features elliptical, gray-green leaves with a silvery underside. In spring to early summer, it produces showy, pink and white flowers with long, prominent red stamens. These flowers are not only attractive but also edible. The plant yields green, oval fruits with a sweet, aromatic flavor, reminiscent of pineapple and guava, maturing in late autumn. This hardy shrub is valued for its fruits, aesthetic appeal, and ability to act as a hedge or specimen plant.
