Plant Description

Drosera capensis, commonly known as the Cape Sundew, is a striking and easy-to-grow carnivorous plant native to the wetlands of South Africa. It features elongated, narrow leaves covered in glandular hairs that secrete a sticky, dew-like substance. This “dew” attracts and traps insects, which are then digested to provide the plant with essential nutrients. The leaves curl around the prey, enhancing digestion. Drosera capensis is known for its resilience and can produce vibrant pink or white flowers on tall stems. Its combination of beauty and insect-catching efficiency makes it a favorite among carnivorous plant enthusiasts.
