It is distinguished by its formidable, buffalo-horn-like spines. This cultivar is more resilient and faster growing compared to its siblings like Asterias and Myriostigma. It thrives best in high-mineral soil mixes and requires infrequent watering. This plant can grow in light shade but can also be acclimated to full sun conditions​​.
