Plant Description

The Berberis vulgaris, commonly known as Common Barberry, is a thorny deciduous shrub prized for its arching branches and vibrant, seasonal displays. Its small, oval leaves are bright green in spring and summer, turning fiery red or orange in autumn. The plant produces yellow, pendulous flowers in spring that develop into small, elongated red berries in late summer to fall. These berries add a splash of color and are rich in vitamin C, making them both ornamental and functional. Growing up to 3 meters tall, this hardy shrub's spiny stems make it ideal for hedges or natural barriers.
