Agave americana subs. protoamericana
Agave americana subs. protoamericana
Plant Description
The Agave americana subs. protoamericana is a striking perennial succulent, characterized by its massive, blue-green rosettes of thick, spiny-edged leaves. These leaves can reach up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) in length and are adorned with sharp terminal spines. This subspecies exhibits slightly narrower and more upright foliage compared to the typical Agave americana, with a more refined form. Once mature, it produces a towering flowering stalk up to 7 meters (23 feet) tall, with clusters of yellow flowers, marking the end of its life cycle as a monocarpic plant.
