Plant Description

Acer opalus, known as the Italian Maple or Opal Maple, is a medium-sized deciduous tree native to southern Europe and North Africa. It has broad, lobed leaves that are dark green in spring and summer, turning vibrant shades of yellow and orange in autumn. The tree produces small, yellow-green flowers in early spring, which are followed by pairs of winged samaras. The bark is smooth and gray, becoming slightly fissured with age. Acer opalus is admired for its striking autumn foliage and is often found in woodlands and mountainous regions.
