Plant Description

Acer monspessulanum, commonly known as the Montpellier maple, is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree native to the Mediterranean region. It typically grows to a height of 10-15 meters with a rounded crown. The tree features three-lobed leaves that are dark green on top and lighter underneath, providing a beautiful autumn display with shades of yellow, orange, and red. The bark is smooth and grey, becoming fissured with age. In spring, the tree produces small, inconspicuous yellow-green flowers that give way to winged samaras by late summer. This species is valued for its ornamental qualities and adaptability.
