Plant Description

The Washingtonia filifera, commonly known as the California Fan Palm, is a majestic, towering palm tree native to the southwestern United States. It boasts a stout, thick trunk topped with a lush crown of large, fan-shaped fronds that can reach up to 2 meters wide. These green, pleated leaves are lined with thread-like fibers, giving the tree its distinctive name, "filifera," meaning "thread-bearing." As the palm ages, its old fronds form a dense skirt around the trunk. This stately palm can grow up to 18 meters tall, adding dramatic height and texture to landscapes.
